Located approximately 27-28 km from Maharana Pratap Airport, the hotel is a comfortable 45-minute drive away, while the vibrant city center is just a 10-minute drive from the property. As a sister property to the renowned Oberoi Udaivilas, Trident shares access to a private pier on the lake, offering guests scenic boat rides across the shimmering waters.
Spread across 43 acres of meticulously landscaped gardens, the hotel commands breathtaking views of the iconic City Palace rising majestically across Lake Pichola from the pier. The recently renovated rooms showcase the architectural and cultural heritage of Udaipur, blending traditional Rajasthani design elements with contemporary comfort. The expansive grounds feature a track leading to Bara Mahal, adjacent to Oberoi Udaivilas where peacocks roam freely around the campus. With its harmonious blend of lakeside tranquility, palatial vistas, and Rajputana elegance, Trident Udaipur provides an immersive experience of Udaipur’s timeless charm.
Booking & Pre-Arrival Experience
Our booking experience with Trident Udaipur, while ultimately successful, revealed several operational inconsistencies that detracted from the anticipation of our stay. We were traveling with our one-year-old, making a smooth booking process all the more important for our family trip.
Booking Process: We booked directly through the Trident website and received confirmation, but the reservation vanished from our Trident Privilege account. After contacting the team, we received a response two days later explaining that reservations sometimes don’t reflect properly in membership accounts. Despite assurances that our membership number was linked to the booking, it remained invisible, a concerning lack of transparency for loyalty members.
Payment Tokenization Challenges: The confirmation email promised card tokenization details that never arrived. Days before our trip, we had to request the link ourselves. When it came, it excluded American Express cards and suggested pre-payment as an alternative, yet the link offered no pre-payment option. Another email was necessary.
The subsequent payment link was broken, displaying: “Invoice has been cancelled. Please contact the merchant for further assistance.” We had to request yet another link. For a premium hotel booking celebrating a special occasion, this was far from seamless.
Pre-Arrival Coordination: A few days before our arrival, we received a pre-arrival email requesting additional details and preferences. Once we responded, including a cab request, the email thread suddenly expanded to include numerous team members. While internal coordination is understandable, nearly every subsequent reply triggered a cascade of out-of-office auto-responses that flooded our inbox.
Team members had set Out-of-Office messages for routine end-of-workday departures rather than actual absences, creating the impression our inbox was being spammed. For a premium hotel, this warranted either more selective email distribution or better email etiquette training among staff.
Arrival & Check-In Experience
Our arrival at Trident Udaipur set a pleasant tone for our stay, with seamless coordination that made us feel immediately welcomed. Even though the pre-arrival experience had been worrying, the on-ground execution was reassuringly smooth. After being met at the airport, we were whisked away in a comfortable Toyota Innova, a perfect choice for family travel with a one-year-old.
Upon reaching the hotel, we were warmly greeted and guided through a smooth check-in process by Yashika, who displayed remarkable efficiency and warmth. She took a personal interest in ensuring our comfort and went above and beyond with insightful recommendations on Udaipur’s local attractions and dining spots. Her thoughtful suggestions proved invaluable, allowing us to fully appreciate the city’s vibrant heritage and culinary scene.
We were offered a refreshing welcome drink as we completed the formalities, adding a gracious touch to the arrival experience. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality shown by the staff during check-in made for a wonderful first impression, alleviating our earlier concerns about the hotel’s operational standards.

Accommodation
Trident Udaipur offers a total of 142 accommodations, comprising 3 suites and 139 rooms across various categories. When finalizing our booking, we had hoped to secure one of the suites for our family celebration, but unfortunately, all three were unavailable during our dates. We therefore booked a standard room, which proved to be quite compact for a family of three with a one-year-old.
Despite the limited space, our room was beautifully decorated with an elegant blend of contemporary comfort and traditional Rajasthani aesthetics. Adding to the warmth of our arrival, the hotel had thoughtfully decorated the room for our son’s birthday celebration, which made the moment even more special for our family. The use of rich fabrics, intricate patterns, and warm color palettes created a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance that captured the essence of Udaipur’s royal heritage. The layout, though snug, featured a serene view and comfortable furnishings that made it a pleasant retreat after exploring the city each day.
Deluxe Aravalli View Room – Room Tour
Traveling with a one-year-old presents unique challenges in maintaining organization, and the compact room size amplified this. However, the housekeeping team at Trident Udaipur, led by Ashok and Adil, was truly outstanding. Each day, they efficiently managed the quick turnover required to keep our room immaculate, despite the inevitable messes that accompany traveling with a young child. Their attentiveness to detail and genuine dedication to maintaining a spotless environment made us feel genuinely cared for.
The small touches particularly stood out, our belongings were arranged neatly, toys were organized thoughtfully, and the staff left welcoming notes that added a personal dimension to their service. On the night before our departure, the housekeeping team left us two exquisite miniature white elephants adorned with delicate Meenakari work as a parting gift, a thoughtful souvenir that beautifully captured Rajasthan’s artistic heritage. These gestures transformed our compact room into a welcoming sanctuary, demonstrating that exceptional hospitality can elevate any accommodation experience, regardless of size constraints.
Resort Experience
Spread across 43 acres shared with Oberoi Udaivilas, the estate offers exceptional freedom to explore. The resort’s entrance sets an elevated tone, passing through a majestic arch, you’re greeted by an elegant fountain befitting a royal estate. Within the grounds lies Bada Mahal, a 150-year-old hunting lodge sitting between the two properties.
We particularly enjoyed our morning walks, watching peacocks roam freely across the meticulously maintained lawns and landscaped gardens. The sunrise views from Bada Mahal were spectacular, with the first light illuminating Oberoi Udaivilas and the Aravalli hills in golden hues. The private jetty offered another tranquil vantage point, with Lake Pichola’s still waters reflecting the awakening sky, a photographer’s dream and peaceful start to each day.
The sheer expanse means you never feel crowded, even during peak occupancy, a rare luxury in today’s hospitality landscape.
Exploring Trident Udaipur’s Stunning Lawns, Pool & Lakeside Views
Dining Experience
Dining at Trident Udaipur was largely delightful, thanks to the consistently high standards of service from the restaurant team. Nancy and Indranil, the restaurant supervisors, played an integral role in making our dining experiences enjoyable and memorable. They were exceptionally attentive to our needs as a family traveling with a one-year-old, ensuring we felt completely at home. Each meal felt thoughtfully prepared and catered to our preferences, creating a comforting and family-friendly atmosphere that made dining with a young child genuinely pleasant.
The breakfast spread was impressive, offering a good variety of continental, Indian, and regional Rajasthani options that catered to diverse palates. The egg menu was particularly noteworthy, featuring an extensive selection of preparations. However, we did encounter operational challenges at the egg station. The staff member managing this station was the primary source of the issue, specific instructions were frequently overlooked or miscommunicated to the chef. We noticed visible frustration among the waitstaff themselves, which appeared to stem from difficulties working with this particular individual. Whenever we were able to communicate directly with the chef, everything was executed perfectly. Unfortunately, the staff managing the egg station didn’t always allow us this direct communication, creating unnecessary friction during what should have been a seamless breakfast experience.
Despite these challenges, the dedication shown by Nancy, Indranil, and the broader restaurant team, particularly in accommodating our family’s needs, demonstrated a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction. Their attentiveness and warmth elevated our dining experiences throughout our stay, though addressing the communication and service issues at the egg station would significantly improve the breakfast experience for future guests.
Amenities & Activities
Trident Udaipur offers a range of well-appointed amenities that enhanced our stay and provided ample opportunities for relaxation and recreation. The spa was a particular highlight, staffed by skilled therapists who demonstrated exceptional care and professionalism.
A day after one of my spa sessions, I experienced some neck discomfort. When I mentioned this casually to the staff during a conversation, they immediately relayed the information to the spa team. That same day, the therapist Shin, who was exceptionally kind and attentive, provided a targeted treatment specifically to address the issue. The therapy proved very effective in alleviating the pain. This proactive response and Shin’s genuine care left me feeling truly looked after and spoke volumes about the spa team’s commitment to guest wellness and attentive service.
The resort’s swimming pool provided a refreshing retreat, especially welcome in Udaipur’s warm climate, while the fitness center offered well-maintained equipment for guests wanting to maintain their workout routines. The beautifully landscaped gardens and expansive lawns we mentioned earlier served as natural amenities in themselves, perfect for morning walks, yoga, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
The Private Sunset Boat Ride: An Unmissable Experience
One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the private sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola, a must-do experience that we cannot recommend highly enough. As we glided across the tranquil waters, we were treated to spectacular views of Udaipur’s most iconic landmarks. The majestic City Palace dominated the shoreline, its intricate architecture glowing golden in the fading light. We passed the legendary Taj Lake Palace, seemingly floating on the water like a marble dream, along with other distinguished properties, including The Leela Palace and The Taj Fateh Prakash Palace that ring the lake. Watching the sun set behind the Aravalli hills while historic palaces and luxury hotels illuminated around us created an almost surreal atmosphere, a perfect encapsulation of Udaipur’s romantic charm and regal heritage.
For families traveling with children, the resort features a kids’ club with supervised play areas, though we didn’t utilize it during our stay. The open spaces and safe environment made it easy for our one-year-old to explore outdoors, while the variety of amenities allowed us to balance city sightseeing with property-based relaxation seamlessly.
Check-Out Experience
Our departure from Trident Udaipur was smooth and efficient, with the front desk team handling the formalities promptly. The process was straightforward with no billing discrepancies or delays. We had opted for an airport drop, which was arranged seamlessly. The vehicle arrived on time and the transfer was comfortable, ensuring we reached Maharana Pratap Airport without any stress. The hassle-free check-out and departure experience provided a fitting end to our stay, leaving us with positive final impressions.
Areas for Improvement
While Trident Udaipur provided an overall enjoyable experience, several operational areas require attention to truly match the premium standards the property aspires to deliver.
- Pre-Arrival Communication & Systems: The booking and pre-arrival experience was the most frustrating aspect of our stay. After booking through the website, our reservation disappeared from the Trident Privilege portal despite assurances it was linked. The payment tokenization process was plagued with broken links and multiple rounds of correspondence. Staff inconsistently addressed me as “Mr.” and “Ms.” across emails, suggesting poor coordination among reservation executives. The cascade of out-of-office auto-responses from multiple team members flooded our inbox, creating an unprofessional impression, particularly disappointing given we were traveling to celebrate our child’s first birthday.
Most critically, preferences communicated to the reservations team were not relayed to the hotel staff, causing initial inconveniences upon arrival. For a property under the Oberoi umbrella, such system failures and communication gaps are below expectations. - Inter-Property Coordination: Our attempt to secure a dinner reservation at Chandni in the neighboring Oberoi Udaivilas revealed poor inter-property communication. Trident staff informed us the restaurant was fully booked, yet when we contacted Udaivilas directly, we secured a reservation easily. Upon dining there, we noticed several vacant tables throughout the evening. This disconnect between sister properties operating on a shared campus is inexplicable and diminishes the guest experience. Seamless coordination between Trident and Udaivilas should be standard, not an exception.
- Breakfast Service Operations: While the breakfast spread and egg menu were impressive, execution at the egg station was inconsistent. The staff member managing this station frequently overlooked specific instructions and sometimes prevented direct communication with the chef, despite the fact that chef interactions always yielded perfect results. Even the waitstaff appeared visibly frustrated with this individual’s approach, suggesting a personnel issue that management should address.
Overall Experience
Our 7-night stay at Trident Udaipur was marked by thoughtful service, memorable experiences, and Udaipur’s scenic beauty. The beautifully appointed rooms, family-friendly environment, and attentive staff made our trip genuinely enjoyable as we celebrated our son’s first birthday.
From the unforgettable sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola to exceptional spa treatments, Trident exceeded expectations in many ways. The dedication and warmth of Yashika at check-in, Nancy and Indranil in the restaurant, and housekeeping managers Ashok and Adil created a welcoming atmosphere that transformed our stay from pleasant to truly memorable.
While pre-arrival communication, inter-property coordination, and certain breakfast service elements require improvement, the on-ground hospitality excellence was undeniable. Despite being positioned as a premium property, Trident Udaipur delivers an experience that genuinely feels closer to luxury.
